CELEBRATION OF “CENTENARY YEAR” OF LATE K. VAIKUNTH, PADMABHUSHAN LAXMAN PAI AND PADMAVIBHUSHAN MARIO MIRANDA AT RAVINDRA BHAVAN, MARGAO- GOA
Ravindra Bhavan, Margao- Goa in association with the Department of Information and Publicity, Govt. of Goa and Goa College of Art shall be organising the Centenary Year Celebrations of eminent personalities Late K. Vaikunth (Vaikunth Kuncolienkar), Padmabhushan Laxman Pai and Padmavibhushan Mario Miranda from 11th to 13th June 2026 with various activities and programmes.
The Inaugural function shall be held on 11th June 2026 with an interaction session with renowned Film Celebrities 1) Shri Ramesh Sippy and Smt. Kiran Sippy and 2) Hon. M.P. Smt. Hema Malini who have worked with Shri K. Vaikunth in various Films, followed by the screening of the film “Seeta Aur Geeta”.
The Centenary celebrations are an Initiative of the Government of Goa under the guidance of the Hon. Chief Minister of Goa Dr. Pramod Sawant and Hon. PWD Minister Shri Digambar Kamat who shall grace the function along with other dignitaries.
On 12th June 2026 Screening of Film “Parichay” at 4:30 pm and Film “Aandhi at 7:30 pm. has been scheduled.
To commemorate the centenary year of Laxman Pai and Mario Miranda an All Goa Painting Competition and Cartoon competition shall be organised and the Award ceremony shall be held on 13/06/26 followed by a documentary on Mario Miranda by Shri Arun Khopkar.
The theme of the Padmabhushan Laxman Pai Award Painting competition is “Goan Life” and the Theme of the Padmavibhushan Mario Miranda Award Cartoon competition is “Spirit of Goa”. The competition is for Goan Artists with valid Residential proof of 15 years by submitting Aadhaar Card and Election card and Declaration. The competition for Padmabhushan Laxman Pai Award and Padmavibhushan Mario Miranda Award will be organised in two groups. Group – A :- age group 20 years and above Group – B: – below 20 years in both the categories and shall be held on either existing Paintings of Artists on new work. The Entry form duly completed along with the Artwork should be submitted to Ravindra Bhavan Margao on or before 5th June 2026 by 5:00 pm.
5 selected artwork in each group and category will be displayed at the exhibition at Ravindra Bhavan Margao from 11th to 15th June 2026. The winners of Padmabhushan Laxman Pai Award and Padmavibhushan Mario Miranda Award in each group and category will be provided Cash prizes as follows:

Ravindra Bhavan also appeals to the General Public having original collection of Mario Miranda cartoons and Laxman Pai paintings to provide the same for display in the exhibition for 4 days from 12th to 15th June 2026.
